President’s Message

The evening of October 8, 2005, SAPOA lost Board of Directors member, John Nielson. Most of us know John as Pastor Na. He had served 2˝ years of his elected three-year term and will be sorely missed. John was a gentle man with very strong convictions who actively lead a healing ministry with his Korean and Taiwanese parishioners. You could always find him working in his expansive garden and could expect a welcoming bear hug. SAPOA’s loss is heaven’s gain.
Pastor Na’s passing left the SAPOA Board of Directors with a vacant seat, which we needed to fill by temporary appointment, as spelled out in our Bylaws. Barry Olson volunteered to serve and was appointed by the Board at its November 7, 2005, meeting. Looking ahead to our July 2006 Annual Meeting and examining the expiration dates of the other members, we must recognize the need of SAPOA to garner the volunteer services of at least five SAPOA property owners who will run for election and if elected serve three-year terms on the SAPOA Board.*
Current Directors Everett Stauffer and Lew Morello terms expire at the end of August 2007. Directors Dave Taney, Irma Martin, and Kathleen DeStefano’s terms expire at the end of August 2006. Dave and Irma will have served two three-year terms and are prohibited from serving beyond two terms by the SAPOA Bylaws. Sara Kincaid is currently serving a one-year term, by Board appointment, fulfilling the unexpired term of Dan Abbott, who resigned in spring 2005.
Bottom line! SAPOA needs you to participate! You can start by attending the SAPOA Semi-annual Meeting announced in this newsletter. We need 30-35 property owners in attendance, to establish a quorum, allowing decisions to be made and actions to be taken. Problems and concerns won’t go away by ignoring them, turning a deaf ear to them, or letting them stagnate through lack of participation. Let’s come together and address those issues.
