Message from the Secretary:

As the new kid in Sunshine Acres, I have spent hours familiarizing myself with SAPOA’s governing documents and history. I’m not completely finished,

but I’ve been compiling a personal synopsis of SAPOA’s minutes and newsletters for the past ten years. Doing that has left me with the highest respect and admiration for each and every Board member, committee member, volunteer, everyone who attended meetings, spoke up in those meetings and everyone who expressed their concerns, disagreements and even sometimes gratitude, spoken and in writing. If I were evaluating those ten years, my overall grade would be an A.

Message from the Treasurer:

I have been walking the beach road after some good rain showers and found the road in good condition, with clear water running down the new culverts. Vegetation is coming back heavily on both sides, but is creeping into the roadbed, mostly horsetails, because the sides are loose. And some light

indents from traffic are present. That’s one reason the road should be paved

a soon as possible. A lot of time and money of members has been invested  to bring it to the final stage of paving. In my opinion, if it is not done it will only increase future maintenance cost.

At this time there are 150 property owners with keys, ready to use the road and when paved the number who use the road will increase. If you have never walked the road and are able, please do and see for yourselves how much improved the area is with this new roadbed.

And we should not forget the generous donations, over $3,000.00, received from the Kevin Douglas family for access to their beach property, as well as the $3,500.00 Bill Shepherd donated for the beach road some years back for the purpose to maintain it.

The funds to pave the roadbed could come from owners who are able to prepay the already approved $75.00 per year for the next 2 years. A number of property owners have already done so. This would realize $150.00 from each such owner. That is one possible solution.

But to go forward with anything, a new board of directors has to be in place willing to take on the challenges and bring this project to completion.
